Why yes, it's wearing a Santa hat. And yes, I am aware it's January February already. I just wanted to play with watercolors for the first time and referenced a very cute card I got this year. Don't know who the original artist is (unless I am to believe it's H. Allmark, which I somehow doubt)...
It's silly, it's sloppy and not even original, but hey! I enjoyed it! And I don't even hate the end result! Believe it or not, the colors are better IRL.
I don't understand why you called it sloppy. I find that it looks really well done. I have worked with watercolours before and know that they are not always easy to use and considering this is your first time I think you might have surpassed me Good job
I would love to be given such a lovely Christmas postcard! Do you know that whathever you draw, I will love it (especially when it's a cuuuute, little, smilling elephant in a Santa hat! )? I think that, for beginners, it's the best to paint such "silly and sloppy" things to practise watercolours painting. I love such childish, naive things when they are done with this medium. I once painted something similar, but due to the poor result, I didn't submit it.
But thanks!!

Yes, I do feel these sorts of illustrations are especially suited for watercolours!
